Diamond Peak announces Facebook contest winner of Holiday Pass

Incline Village, NV – Fans of Diamond Peak on Facebook and followers on Twitter played “Where’s Diamond Pete” for a chance to win a Diamond Peak Holiday Pass and season long locker rental.  The contest promoted a new Holiday season pass that is valid all 28 holiday dates during the 2009-10 ski season.  While most resorts blackout all but their most expensive season passes during peak holiday periods Diamond Peak has done the unthinkable by offering a premium product at a family friendly price.  For just $249 you can ski or ride everyday during the Christmas/New Year period, Martin Luther King holiday weekend and all of the Presidents Ski/Skate week holiday.

Ed Youmans, General Manager for Diamond Peak said: “We have always been first to offer family friendly products and this is another one that fills that niche.  Lots of parents can only ski when the kids are out of school, so we are giving them a pass that fits their lifestyle at a price they can afford”.

To promote the new pass Diamond Peak launched a Facebook contest that asked, “Where’s Diamond Pete?”- the popular penguin mascot of the Diamond Peak Children’s Ski Center.  Diamond Pete is closely associated with the Bee Ferrato Child Ski Center. Bee picked up a yellow-eyed penguin when she was walking along the beaches of New Zealand as a little girl. She developed an interest in penguins and years later she visited Diamond Pete’s brothers and sisters in Antarctica. It was about that time when Diamond Pete swam and waddled his way to Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Incline Village, Nevada, because he heard about the fresh powder and family-friendly terrain.
Photos of Diamond Pete were posted on www.facebook.com/diamondpeak throughout the contest.  Fans of Diamond Peak were asked to log in and identify where Diamond Pete was.  Pete was spotted everywhere from local North Tahoe hangouts to Burning Man and Maui to the Great Pyramids of Giza.  The fan with the most correct responses, Jeanne Partelow Franklin of Grass Valley, California won a free 2009-10 Holiday Pass and a free season long locker rental.    “What I liked about the contest was all of the creative and sometimes random places Pete took his adventures; to win this contest is a great feeling especially because it's a prize I am sure to use,” said Franklin.  “I’ll use my pass and locker every opportunity that I can this season and I’m looking forward to skiing with my daughters and husband as much as possible.”

We chose Facebook and Twitter as our mediums for this contest because we wanted people to have fun and check in daily for new locations. People love Diamond Pete and social media created a great buzz and word of mouth effect about the new Holiday pass.” – said Milena Regos, Marketing Director.
