Gobble Gobbleby dawn
Just wanted to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving with many blessings! With the current state of the world, I admittedly want to run away, run away sometimes (see previous post). But there is much to give thanks for. As a Tahoe local, it is easy to remember what to thank God for. All it takes is a trip to the grocery store or a routine drive to work at Diamond Peak for me to be reminded of the beauty of His creation that surrounds us. One look across the lake and I am instantly transformed. Every time I look upon Lake Tahoe, it is a reminder of things bigger than myself; that there's much more than just me and my world and my problems which seem so little compared to the vastness that is God's creation. It’s why I moved here. 16 years ago when I first moved to Tahoe I remember telling myself that if I ever drive next to the lake and fail to look out at it and appreciate its beauty, that would mean that I no longer deserved to live here and it would be time for me to move. Well, even on my worst day, I make a point to look out. On cloudy days, rainy days, clear days, doesn’t matter. I lift my head, and maybe even have to turn and adjust something in order to get that view. And every time I’m glad I did because every time it’s beautiful, in every mood. It gives me perspective. God didn't have to make it all so pretty and then let us enjoy it, but he did. So I am thankful. Also, for me personally, I'm thankful that I still have a job, good health for my children and family, a home, my faith, and a caring and hardworking husband. We can all be thankful that we still have freedom in our country, and for a (mostly) peaceful nation. We all can also be grateful for the beauty of nature no matter what corner of the world you experience it, whether it be pondering over a reflection on a raindrop, or watching a wintry city sunset. What are you thankful for? Think about it, give thanks, and then go eat some turkey. |
