Diamond Peak Jiblet 2012
// February 12th, 2012 // Events
On February 11th, 2012, Diamond Peak put on one of the most fun events around the lake, the annual Diamond Peak Jiblet! With over 40 entrants, competition was fierce on the course. Competitors had 45 minutes to show off their most difficult and creative tricks in a jam style format, with the hopes of making it into finals. Snowboarders, skiers, and snow skaters hiked to the top of the course, which consisted of two boxes, a long rail, and a hip at the bottom. Nick Chmell, a local rider showed off his back flip skills, landing him with a spot in the finals. As soon as the first flip was thrown, skiers and snowboarders alike were stepping up the level of competition. A seven year old skier did a hippie into a pretzel and landed himself in the final round. With 24 competitors moving on to finals the level of competition increased. As the final round of the Jiblet began, the competitors had 30 minutes to show the judges their skills. Leo Cartellieri threw a huge 540 over the rail coming in for a grab, and Natalie Vitalie showed off her jibbing skills by doing a nose press across the flat box and doing a 360 spin off the hip. The winners were announced in the Loft Bar while the Mark Castro Band was playing in the background.
