It’s important to take more than one lesson to truly develop the basics for good skiing and snowboarding that’s why Diamond Peak is giving you the chance to win a three pack.

To enter the contest, leave a comment on this blog post about why you want to win this package deal.  Each week a panel of judges will select a winner from the entries. The judges are Jon Tekulve (Assistant Director of Ski and Snowboard School), Bee Ferrato (Director of Child Ski Center) and Barb Archer (Marketing Coordinator).

The contest will run January 7th until January 30th. The winners will be announced each Sunday during that period starting Sunday, January 16th. Diamond Peak is pleased to give 3 people the chance to develop the skills for a new lifelong activity.

Diamond Peak is where I learned to ski and it’s the ideal place where I want my kids to learn. Many memories!

  4. Kacie Kacie says:

Barb Archer, this shout out is for you. From one Marketing Coordinator to another – I grew up in the mountains, but never tried skiing! Crazy – I know! I am visiting Tahoe for the 1st time over MLK Day (from the flat lands of Texas) and I PLAN TO CONQUER THE MOUNTAIN, as long as I don’t break a leg ;) Lessons would certainly help me along my quest. Either way – super stoked and can’t wait to hit the slopes with my new husband! Wish me luck!

  5. Mary Mary says:

Yesterday, my 6 year old son and my 9 year old daughter had the chance to get on a snowboard and be taught by Ross Powers for a little bit. He let my daughter wear his gold medal, take a picture with him and get his autograph! Oh my goodness! They spent some time on the bunny hill and you could just see the determination and excitement in their eyes. This is all they talk about now! “When can we go snowboarding again?!” I need to get them some lessons!

  6. Lynn Lynn says:

My daughter has always wanted to board but
I insisted she’d learn to ski first. Well, she now (16 yrs old) skis
and is extremely anxious to begin boarding …
waiting 3+ years is beyond being patient.
Snow boarding lessons would be the ultimate!

  7. Maggie Maggie says:

Though I took a couple of lessons when I was in my teens at Mt. Shasta Ski Park (nearly 20 years ago) I never really learned how to ski. I have now lived in Tahoe for several years but have not had a chance to learn to ski as I have been waiting for my kids to be ready too. My two little boys (ages 4 and 3) went to Diamond Peak for the first time last week. They are in love with skiing already! Help me keep up with my kids, please!

  8. Ted Ted says:

I would like my wife to win the lessons so that she can keep pace with her 11 year old son who likes to ski all over the mountain. It is her fourth year with a season pass and now she wants to get better so that she feels confident on the black diamond runs! She loves to ski but wants to really improve her technique.

  9. West West says:

Hi I’m West. I am five years old (going on six) and I want to learn to ski like my uncle Willy so we can ride the big chair lift to the top of the mountain and ski down The Great Flume! I’m praying for more snow for this weekend!

  10. Elaine Lombardi Elaine Lombardi says:

My hubby , my 3 boys (6,8,15) and I all took boarding lessons at Diamond Peak last year. They are all great boarders now and leave me in the dust. 2 of my boys took me up lodgepole last year and waited, waited, waited for me to get enough courage to go down. 30 minutes late I finally caught up with them at the bottom. I wanna be a “cool” mom and at least catch up or even pass them up by next season! Either way we keep coming to Diamond Peak from the Bay Area cause my kids feel safe and secure there.

  11. Erin Lunsford Erin Lunsford says:

I have always wanted to learn to snowboard. My wife and I used to ski all the time but we had kids and got “responsiblities”!! We have gotten our kids out on teh slopes the last 3 years and they love it. I would love boarding lessons to keep up with the kids after all these years off the slopes!!

  12. Rebecca Rebecca says:

Although I grew up in the Reno-Tahoe area, I’ve never learned to ski. My 9 year old is learning to ski and keeps asking me, “Mommy, when are you going to learn to ski so we can go out together?” I would love the opportunity to fulfill his wish.

  13. Lisa Lisa says:

By going to college up here I have experienced things like river rafting and camping, but snowboarding or skiing has always been just a bit out of reach for me. There has always been an excuse of no money, no time or no coordination. Before I graduate I would love to try it. This is a main reason why people come to the Reno Tahoe area and I don’t want to leave without at least giving it a shot.

  14. LaTasha C. Smith LaTasha C. Smith says:

Hello, my name is LaTasha I’m a mother of five. I have always loved to expose them to different activities. I have two son’s that already enjoy snowboarding Israel 13, and Donovan 21. My 5 year old loves to be competetive and enjoys learning what his older brothers do. My older son Beltroy has just purchased his first snowboard and boots and being a heavy man he needs all the lessons he can get also my daughter jazzmen would love to show out since she is the only girl. I myself would love to ski with them and make sking a yearly family event.

  15. Johnny Johnny says:

I moved from Bay area here and I have convinced many of my friends to come and ski here but they told me I should learn and then go with them whenever they are here. 16. greg parkyn greg parkyn says:

My ten year old daughter, Hannah, has had 2 lessons so far and is just now starting to get the hang of snowboarding. She is really enthusiastic about learning to get control of her board, and spending time on the mountain. As i love to ski/ride at Diamond Peak and have be doing so for twenty years, i know this is an ideal location to learn. She tugged me arm and made my post and this blog. Thanks Diamond Peak for offering, and let ot snow!

  17. Steve Steve says:

My wife would love to ski with me and our two boys. I have taken her up a few times, but I have to admit I’m not the best teacher. She gets frustrated thinking that it should be as easy as our two boys make it look. We both grew up in this area and skiing was a huge part of my childhood…but she never learned to ski. This Christmas her aunt bought a used ski package for her so we could all ski together…but now it comes down to actually learning to ski. I think this is the year we could start skiing as a family.

  18. Bucky Harjo Bucky Harjo says:

Have always wanted to learn how to snowboard but have been hesitant to pick up the board, I can ski fairly well, self taught.
Snowboarding just seems totally awesome, would love the chance to learn while I still have my, “MOJO!”

  19. Briana Briana says:

I was born and raised in Texas, and I never saw real snow until I moved to the area a couple of months ago! I have been wanting to learn to ski, but I did not know where to begin. I would love to take lessons so that I can learn the right way and not seriously hurt myself in the process!

  20. Debbie Green Debbie Green says:

I’m a native NV, born & raised in Reno. I learned to ski at the Jr ski program when I was in elementary school. Now that my kids are learning to enjoy another aspect of “playing” in the snow-beyond sledding and snow angels–I’d love to join them on the slopes by re-learning to ski and truly be an all-season sports enthusiast, enjoying winter recreation!

  21. Raymundo Elias Raymundo Elias says:

My children 11, and 8 are very interested in learning to snowboard.
They’re both great students, and definetely would appreciate the opportunity and the chalange for this great sport.

  22. Ben Sotelo Ben Sotelo says:

Every time i go to ski i have a hard time finding friends that would like to go with me, finally i convinced my partner to learn it and got him into the first class, but further training is needed since one time wasn’t enough, so please now i need the extra class….

  23. Micaela B Micaela B says:

Hi am 14 and would like to learn how to snowboard. I have wanted to snowboard for years but my parents made me ski. Now they have finally let me try snowboarding, but my mom insist on teaching me because, “IT’S TOO EXPENSIVE”…not good! First she has no patience, second I may end up hating snowboarding before I actually learn and third she is a TERRIBLE teacher…PLEASE help me! I’m begging you!

  24. Wayne Lambert Wayne Lambert says:

My grandson Jake loves Diamond Peak and with the lessons he’ll be a Diamond Peak kid for life !!

  25. Greta Valencia Greta Valencia says:

I would love to share this learn to snowboard package with my two teenage daughters. My daughters learned to snowboard two seasons ago and are not comfortable going back up without taking lessons again. In fact for Christmas, this year I bought my 17 year old a board & boots for it. We could all do it together. It would be a blast. Please consider us. I would love to join my daughters with this.

  26. Lily Lily says:

My almost 6 yr old son took his 1st ski lesson at Diamond Peak last season and now he can do the most difficult green runs at all the ski resorts we’ve been to and pretty much ready for the blues. I took a shot at snowboarding thinking it would be nice to at least go down the same hills with my son, but I haven’t even gotten off the easiest of the green runs. My son says “…don’t worry, just keep practicing, maybe you should go to where I first started..” Your beginner slope, I remember, is one of the friendliest for beginners. Someone help me from falling on my behind so I can finally go down the slope side by side with my son!

  27. Rachel Rachel says:

I really want to win these lessons for my husband. I spent most of my life skiing in Tahoe, from the time I could walk, until I met my husband, a non-skier. We now have a family and want to make skiing a part of our lives, but I am not too great of a teacher and would love for my husband to learn from a professional!!

  28. Tricia Tricia says:

My 10 year old learned to ski at age 6 thanks to Bee’s ski school. Now our youngest son is 6 and has finally caught the ski bug due Bee’s wonderful staff. If he could get a few more lessons under his belt we would be able to ski at Diamond Peak all together, for the first time! It would change our ski life completely!

  29. Rick H. Rick H. says:

My kids (4 of them) love to snowboard and have been trying to get me involved for several years now. But as I am currently in charge of a humanitarian effort program that requires me to spend a lot of time in the jungles and villages of third world nations across the globe I have not been able to. Now that I have the time I need the training. The lessons would give me a chance to jump into this and possibly make up for some lost time. I would be grateful (and my family would be as well) if I won these lessons. Thank you for offering this awesome opportunity!

  30. Rebecca Rebecca says:

I love Diamond Peak skiing and would like to expand my skills to give snowboarding a try. Looks like sooo much fun!

  31. Erick Erick says:

I have twin sons and one has fallen behind in learning how to ski. In addition, my wife doesn’t know how to ski. I’d love to go skiing with my entire family and the free lessons would go a long way into getting everyone up to speed. I am the only true skiier in my family and I’m trying to get 3 more to join me up the mountain. Please help!!!

  32. As a child I learned to ski. Now as an adult I enjoy both skiing and snowboarding. I would love for my 12 year old daughter to learn so that we can enjoy the snow together.

  33. Hogune Hogune says:

We could use this to have our son learn to ski so the entire family could ski together.
    Thanks

  34. STEVEN STEVEN says:

I have two daughters and they are 10 & 12. They had been skiing since they were 3 years old. Now, I can not keep up with them any more. They always said that “Daddy, you are too slow……”

I believe that it is time to introduce them a new sport. In this case, it would be snow boarding. This way, I can spend couple more seasons with them before they ski by themself. Time goes by fast, I want to treasure evey minute with my kids.

  35. Melissa Melissa says:

why you want to win this package deal

I would like to win this package deal because I moved to Incline at 15yo and although I always wanted to, I never had the chance to learn. Now I am 29 and still live and work in Incline, my daughter is 6 and is currently enrolled in the child ski center. I would love to be able to take her on the slopes myself for extra practice and quality time, but since I can barely stay upright this is not really possible. Please consider me as a winner.

    Thank you!

  36. helenlam helenlam says:

I’d love to win this for my husband. I’ve been enjoying going to the slopes and shredding for days in a row, but he’s been nursing his knees from old skiing injuries and hasn’t been on the slopes at all! I think snowboarding would be the perfect sport for him and with this prize, he can learn all the correct techniques and avoid any further injuries. I’d love to be able to go up to the slopes as a family next year and teach the baby how to ski or board!

  37. Savannah Savannah says:

I have lived in Incline for over 11 years after moving here to go to SNC, and have never learned to snowboard (even after my dad bought me one for Christmas anticipating that that’s exactly what I would do once I started living here). I would like to overcome the trepidation that has been the only thing standing between me and the mountain all of these years, and it would be incredible to finally be able to share in the fun and excitement of a great blue-bird day with all of my friends who ski or snowboard!

  38. Jamen Neef Jamen Neef says:

Finally both my boys are interested in skiing. Well, one wants to learn to ski and the other snowboard but either way, GREAT! I haven’t been skiing in over 10 years because my kids were never interested until nowq so I’m extremely excited and anxious to take them but I’m a special education teacher so you know I can’t afford to take two boys plus myself skiing probably more than once. I really want them to love skiing and snowboarding so help me make it a reality for them! Help! Help! Help!

  39. Derrick Derrick says:

I got my girlfriend a season pass to Diamond Peak for christmas and she took a beginner lesson yesterday and was starting to get a hang of it towards the end but I think she just really needs a little more help to be able to take full advantage of her pass. Please help me get her out there and shredding. Thanks.

  40. Janice A. Key Janice A. Key says:

We have skiied at Diamond Peak many times and I am a senior skier. I would like to win a lesson so I can teach my grandkids to ski. I know how to ski, but I don`t know how to tell others how to ski. I would like to improve my technic in powder too, and feel more confident on some of the expert runs. My skii`s are 10 years old, but I am happy with them.as they had a good tune-up.

  41. Sue McNelly Sue McNelly says:

My family has been coming to Diamond Peak to ski for a few days each year for quite some time. My daughter, Jenna, who is 8, has taken lessons the last 3 years and went down some challenging intermediate runs with me last year. Since my husband has back problems and can’t ski much anymore, I love that my daughter is enjoying it so that we can ski together! My youngest daughter is 3 years old and I’m hoping to get her started as well. I certainly look forward to years of skiing together with my girls. I know my daughter, Jenna, has improved each year after taking lessons at Diamond Peak and she loves it there! A few more lessons and I think she’ll be confident to try more challenging runs with me. She would love to win the lesson package!

  42. kris kris says:

I would love to take my four boys skiing!

  43. jenn jenn says:

My two sons (ages 6 and 8) have been skiing at Diamond Peak for several seasons now and LOVE skiing!. They’ve always taken lessons, as neither my husband or I ski. Well the time has come for me to learn to ski so that I can take my kids on the slope and enjoy this great winter sport. I’d love to experience the wonder of skiing, both for myself and for my kids.

  44. Dwayne Dwayne says:

I retired 2 years ago and am now a full time resident here at Incline Village. Both my daughters board as well as my son-in-law. Although a senior in some respect I am encouraged that its never too late to learn and I would love to ride down the Diamond Peak slopes with my two girls and son-in-law. Learning to board with my girls…..priceless.

  45. Jim J Jim J says:

I have never learned but have always wanted to learn how to snowboard. This would give me a reason to start.

  46. Marjie Marjie says:

I’m an ok skier but I really stink @ snowboarding… wiping off the mountain with my butt is exhausting! I would LOVE to show people that old dogs CAN learn new tricks… keeping up with the kiddos tearing up the mountain & not being left in their dust would be fun too. Hope I can be a winner!

  47. Joselio Ramirez Joselio Ramirez says:

I would like my wife to win one of the prices so she can learn how to ski. Our 2-kids and I ski every weekend with season pass for the last 4-years. We want her to join us.

  48. Lisa Maciel Lisa Maciel says:

Lived only a couple of hours away from Tahoe for the last 12 years and have never been on skis or a board! I would love the opportunity to learn a new sport to enjoy with my kids since they are older now, it’s time to finally advance from the snow tubes. This would be a fantastic birthday present!

  49. raymond yu raymond yu says:

son will take his GMAT exam this saturday. He spent long hours to prepare for this exam, and he will also next school on the following Tuesday. I would like to give him a break and go skiing.

  50. Everett Everett says:

My brother has always wanted to follow in my footsteps and now that i am snowboarding he would also like to do that. But, my mom would not let him without lessons for it would be far less dangerous if he took lessons. Snowboarding lessons is all he ever wants to do but with the cost of them, we have never purchased them. i would really love for him to try snowboarding.

  51. Marie Marie says:

I would love to take my son and his best friend. The friend is 8 and has a mild physical disorder where the body grows a little faster than his physical mobility can master. Three days of snowboard lessons versus one would really work for him.

    Thank you
    Marie

  52. Eric Jorgensen Eric Jorgensen says:

My grandsons are good skiers, but my granddaughters are still learning. They had two lessons at Diamond Peak, but need more classes, coaching and practice, so that they can ski with me and their cousins.

  53. Al Al says:

i’m sick and tired of sitting on the sidelines while all my friends are having all the fun skiing and boarding in this winter wonderland known as tahoe. please help this unemployed brutha out with some lessons and to finally live the dream of skiing the slopes just like how the cool kids do it. mucho gracias! from an outsider looking in.

  54. Charlene Billow Charlene Billow says:

My two childern, ages 5 & 11, are currently taking skiing lessons on Sundays with you, and it’s amazing! I’ve never skiied before, never even been up to a ski resort, until last weekend with my children. It looks so amazing and fun! I would love to be able to learn to ski so that I could go with my children after their lessons. I would be amazing to experience this with them. They were so excited and proud of themselves last week for “getting it”, and I’ve decided that I would like to experience that feeling too. After the costs of their lessons however, I just don’t have it in my budget this year to take lessons myself. With this, I could and I would get to learn this year rather than next. Next year I would be slowing them down because your instructors are so amazing that they are already doing an amazing job of skiing. Thank you so much for considering me!!

  55. Maggie Lawler Maggie Lawler says:

Growing up, my parents and I always had a deal: if I took 5 years of ski lessons and could ski well enough to go down the black diamond slopes, they would let me take snowboarding lessons. Well, I’ve done all of my ski lessons and am ready to be one of the cool kids and take snowboarding lessons. Unfortunately, I am also going off to college next year, and any spare cash is being saved up for that. If I recieved these free lessons, I would finally have the chance to experiance snowboarding before I went off to college. :) Thank you for considering me!!

  56. Dominique Tleimat Dominique Tleimat says:

I have been wanting to learn how to sky for many years. My boys are now snowboarding and skying and I would like to join them.

  57. Kevin Krause Kevin Krause says:

My wife loves the snow. My kids Madeline (7)and Siena (4) and I are novices (less than times skiing between the 3 of us combined). We need help!!! We will be staying at the Hyatt at the end of the month. My wife wants to go all of the way to NorthStar to ski. Diamond Peak is much closer and it makes more sense to stay close to the resort. By winning the package I could convince my wife…from the pictures that are posted….doesn’t look like we would be missing a thing..

  58. Val Watson Val Watson says:

My son Jack has been wanting to learn how to snow board since he was little. I told him he had to learn how to ski first and be at least 10 years old. Well, he knows how to ski and he’s 11 years old now. He asks me nearly every day…”When can we go to Tahoe?”

  59. Kristy Mercado Kristy Mercado says:

Hi, my name is Kristy, I’m 27 and I have never skiied or snowboarded a day in my life. Originally from New York, I grew up a city girl, never knowing the wonders of nature. Now that I work in CA, as an elementary school art therapist, it is my quest to immerse myself in the beautiful mountainous terrain of the west coast and it’s rich tradition of snow sports. I see this not only as a physical quest, but also a spiritual quest. There is great wisdom and courage in learning to travel the mountain. I hope to attain these qualities and share them with the kids that I work with so that it can help them over come their challenges as well.

  60. Rosanna Rosanna says:

I grew up snowboarding all the time, and would love to ride Diamond Peak with my husband… but he’s from Oklahoma and can’t snowboard at all! So sad. I’ve dreamed of taking a special someone to the top of DP and kissing while taking in that unbeatable Lake view! Make it a reality?

I’m am a snowboarder and I have been dating this really great guy! The only problem is he has never been to the snow and terrified of hurting himself, we are in our mid-30′s. I learned the hard way over 15 years how to board, so I would love to give him this generous gift so he can learn from the best! I know he will love it as much as I do and I will have the best partner to ride with,,, I would like/hope to spend 3 days during Valentine’s week there with him, he took time off, since we live far way from each other but are spending it in my hometown of Sacramento. having crunched the numbers, this generous gift would be a huge help for me to make this happen. I lost my job and it’s been tough and he’s been amazing. I would love to show him how much I appreciate him and surprise him with this winter treat! Thank you for making priceless dreams possible for the last two winners! You guys ROCK!

  63. Lydia Lydia says:

I am a single mom in my 40′s. I’ve been wanting to take my son to Diamond Peak for a while now. The last time I skied was when I was 13! My son 13 year old son is itching to start snow boarding and asked me to join him in lessons. To tell you the truth I think I’m crazy for agreeing but I’d do anything for my son. He’s a good kid, gets As and Bs in school, helps around the house and I’d love to see his big smile when I tell him we’re going to Diamond Peak for snow boarding lessons…together!

  64. Jon Kabat Jon Kabat says:

As a new resident to Incline from Chicago I have been eager to learn to ski. I have gone out four times and it hasn’t gone great. As I am yet to find a job, I haven’t been able to afford proper lessons. Hopefully you can help. I love having Diamond Peak in my front yard! Thanks.

  65. Kim Bigney Kim Bigney says:

I’m a single-mom of three wonderful kids. I’m originally from Hawaii, and have finally adjusted to the seasons. My oldest son is 20, and in the Marines. We just got word this holiday season that he would be deployed to Afghanistan. I think it would be wonderful to win a package & have something to help me & my two younger kids keep busy , and lift our spirits.

  66. Cory Johnson Cory Johnson says:

I am a self taught skier and have learned the hard way. My 8 year old son had a couple of lessons at Diamond Peak and he has made incredible progress! It would be great for him to get more lessons so that he can learn proper technique and avoid the the scars, bumps, and bruises that his old man has acquired over the years of bumbling along. We’d love to win the lessons to not only have him develop a love of skiing, but to also learn correctly ( and stay safe as well.)
