Diamond Peak Environmental Efforts

Diamond Peak Ski Resort is one of the many that recognizes global warming and the effects that pollutants have on our environment. These are a few things that Diamond Peak has done or continues to do to join the cause in helping our winters stay cool:

  •  Three years ago we put our thermostats in our facilities on automated systems, thus reducing our energy use by at least 20%
  • Eleven years ago we switched to using fan guns for our snowmaking, which uses one-fifth of the amount of electricity used before that
  • We upgraded our chairlifts so that they have more efficient motors
  • We are slowly integrating florescent light bulbs into all of our facilities, which are proven to use one-fifth the energy that regular light bulbs use
  •  We have two Diamond Peak shuttles that run on regular schedules throughout the town, picking up visitors and employees so that they don’t have to drive
  • We implemented a ridesharing program in which employees get paid up to $3 a day for carpooling or getting to work in a self-propelled fashion (riding a bike, skateboarding, walking to work, etc.)
  • We have recycling bins throughout the resort and work with IVGID’s Waste Not program to improve our recycling efforts
  • For the past two seasons we've used environmentally-safe containers for to-go food that is easily recyclable
  • At least 50% of the vegetables used in the Fresh Wrap and Potato station are organic. Try the famous falafel wrap!

These are just a few of the things that Diamond Peak has done to help ensure that our future winters will be ideal for participating in the snow sports we all love.
